The Name

La Dolce Vélo is a play on the Italian la dolce vita which means “the sweet life,” and vélo is French for “bike.” Et voilà, La Dolce Vélo is “The Sweet Bike.”

Life is too short and too sweet not to cherish every bite.

That’s one of the many hard lessons I learned and re-learned working remotely in the pandemic. I spent a lot of time staring at my computer and tippy-tapping on my keyboard, trying to prove something to people who felt close on my screen and were really miles away.

But it was my community at my neighborhood bar that made me laugh at the end of the day. It was my friend down the street who would feed my cat when I sped down to San Antonio to race bikes with my cycling friends.

After 3 years of this remote life, I dropped to my knees and cried out in the name of Lance Armstrong, why can’t I just ride bikes and eat dessert?!

I’m here to bribe you with sweet treats to gently close your laptop, strap on your helmet, ride bikes with me, and eat dessert.

See you on the trail.
